  • Today's Carnage

Took three helis to the club today.
Logo400 - went to take off, did a quick ground piro, GP750 gyro was reversed. Didn't have instructions with me to put it right so flight abandoned. No damage thankfully.

TRex 450 - First flight since rebuild. Ground piro again!! Belt reversed. I was SO careful about the belt too, but when I had trouble with the boom clamp bolts I must've fumbled the twist the second time of doing it. Damage - Tail blades clipped on trailing tips.

Blade400 - Got it in the air and hovered it for a while at about 30'. Tried bringing it lower and drifted into a gorse bush. WRONG!!! Reactions too slow/dumb thumbs. Damage - Main Blades, Main Shaft, Feathering Shaft, Short Mixing Link (popped off into oblivion), Elevator Servo Gears.

All in all, one flight two broken helis and a readjust.
I'm not getting much landing practise so far.

It were a lovely day up on the common though.

      Cheers mate.
I'm not disheartened, that's just the way goes.
I had a good day out and there were a load of nice planks there to enjoy as well.
A couple of nice jets, great smell.

Gawd knows what would have happened if I'd got them all up today, me not having too much in the way of landings.
I'm wondering if I should go back on the training gear for a bit longer till I get a few more successful flights under my belt.
I just don't like the way they fly with the gear on though. Talk about pendulum effect.

That's the spirit mate - as already mentioned, we've all been there (in my case, lots of times - lol). Good luck with your flights and landings next time

          There's more

          B400
flybar see-saw - one ball snapped off
upper jesus bolt sheared - got M2x16mm button head (1.3mm hex) - Dremel time
upper main bearing worn - might as well replace while I'm at it
plus any worn ball links I find

          Logo 400
Snapped a damn link while redoing the head. Ran out of thread. Doh!!

So if I make the field tomorrow it'll just be the Trex 450

Not good when things go pear shaped, but you have got the right frame of mind (it's part of the learning curve).

I would say leave off the training gear as it can be a nightmare to keep a good hover due to they make the Heli so unstable and not natural, just do 2/3 batts every time u fly on just hovering and landing and you will soon be able to land quickly without crashing.

I spent ages on hovering and landings just to make sure that I would feel comfortable on these, every flight needs a take off and landing (unless u crash) but most people don't practise this as they just want to go a blast around.

Crashing is in my blood, were can I get a transfusion

You can never have to many batts
