Funny thing is - on the sim, I find nose in much easier than side on for some reason. Even when I practice with my MSR it's the same - I find nose in almost second nature like tail in. I must be a bit weird. Hoping for a fairly calm day tomorrow, and then like you say, I can practice some actual flight! Fingers crossed.Steve

Im really good at nose in on the sim but for some reason when I actually tried it, it was really alien. I'm flying side to side nicely now and turning on the rudder with a little aileron. I'm just starting to turn the heli past side on so it's coming back to me and its a little scary but it's ok.
I think learning forward flight is more fun and the nose in flight is just coming naturally.
Hovering in different orientation is hard and you don't really need it.

I'd say the opposite, getting the hang of hovering in any orientation is very important. It's your get out of trouble route...Originally posted by Jdheli View PostHovering in different orientation is hard and you don't really need it.Pete

For the amount of time you spend flying directly at yourself at this stage it's not that necessary(nose in hover). For flying side to side turning tail in if you need a get out of trouble, get the tail round and back into a tail in hover. For advanced flying it's more important I'd say. Side on hover and just beyond is ok for now.
