  • Trex 450 se v2 built but is not flying well...

So got my local hobby shop to set it up for me( Colin Bliss in maldon Essex) and I just had a flight. It is a nightmare. When hovering all of the sudden it drops then goes high!!! and also when u put the throttle up quickly the tail spins round which obvoulsy means my gro 401 isnt doin its job properly. Also when hovering the tail will vear off instead of keeping to the heading. Ik know this is all to adjustment but what exactly?

That new motor in the v2 se has alot more torque than the older ones & the GY401 does struggle to keep the tail locked. I suggest you reduce the delay setting trim pot to under 20% & put as long an arm on the tail servo as you can this seemed to help when I put my new align motor in the Mini Titan are you using a 9650 futaba tail servo if not you realy should think about getting one it's the only tail servo to have for these small micro helis.

yeh i have the 9650. But what about the hovering problem. First its hovering fine then drops then goes up! is this the pitch? its really annoying

Is it windy where your trying to fly Lucas?
The wind cause translational lift with a gust the heli will balloon up with a lull it will drop. You need to make small corrections to maintain a steady hovering altitude.

My 401 and 9650 hold my tail perfectly on my Trex 450 SE V2.

              Hi Lucas

What you might be seeing is the speed controller surging as the throttle stick is moved up and down, to smooth them out the best thing to do is flatten off the middle of the throttle curve so your hovering fairly much on the same throttle position all the time so only the pitch will change when you move the stick.

I would have hoped Colin would have done that for you any way as he is a very compitent flier, however I don't know how much experience has has with the smaller electric models.

              Cheers

May i suggest that you find a local field where other t-rex fliers are located, that way you can get help setting it up and get some tricks and guidance
