  • iMax B6 chargers ?

    Building first Heli (Nitro)
My need is to charge S2 Receiver battery and 4S starter LiPo battery....nothing else (yet)

Seen that the iMAX range of chargers are well priced, and posts seem to favourable.
Was looking at the iMAx B6 AC but also seen that there is the newer iMax B6AC+

prices seem to be around £38 for B6 and £48 for B6+

Is there any benefit to getting the B6AC+ ?

Is it not the + that is the twin charger, being able to charge to batteries and splitting the maximum charge current between them

My mistake, it looks as though the plus has a built in transformer so you can plug in to mains with 1/2 a cable less, the standard b6 has an external transformer, the one I was meeting to I think wad the b6 pro

Sargan - The one with it's own AC input would save you from buying a PSU.
If you're not going for electric powered flight then it should do you fine for what you need it for.
Should you decide to dip a toe into electric then it WILL do motor lipos but slower than some other chargers, that's all.

challis349 - I think it's the iMAX B6 DUO that has the twin outputs

Had an IMAX B6AC for about 18 months. 12v or mains input. Worked well, and had similar menu options to many other chargers. One day it just stopped working. Until then, it was fine.

            Charger

I too have a Mystery Charger that I have been using for the past 18 months which is basically a copy of the charger your on about. Very good charger for the money and have had no issues with it so far.

Use it for charging my DX7, Glow Ignitor aswell as both 2-3 cell lipo's at 1C/2C in balance mode.

Worth buying one of these too as will cover pritty much all your needs, Think I got mine off ebay for about £8

I've got the Polimax B6AC (same charger with built in mains, just different name)

It works well for what I need.. up to 2650 6S max for the T500 but mainly for the Rx packs.. nice and simple

What i was getting at is that there is "B6AC"
Hi , Welcome To Jet Hobby RC Model

and B6AC+ which is the newer version ..
USD64.99 - iMax B6AC+ Dual Power Intelligent Digital Balance Charger/Discharger : ESky TWF RC Helicopters, honey bee, honey bee king 3, belt cp v2, lama 3, lama 4

The difference seems to be that the B6AC+ supports new Life batteries .
Presumably as it is also a newer design it should be as good as older model .. (may even be product improved)

I have a Mystery b6 and an Imax B6 charger, both work just fine, so long as you remember they are max of 50watts, so don't try to charge a 22.2v 6S pack at more than about 1.8amps! On my 3s packs they work just great, on my 6S packs, they obviously take much much longer and do get fairly warm, but for me this is not an issue. Time wise, I run two chargers, so I get all my packs done in "reasonable" time, and I have enough packs to see me through a decent flying session, so I have no requirement to charge at the field.

I would say, for smaller Rx packs, they would be ideal. I use a spare laptop PSU to power mine, rather than the inbuilt AC versions.
