  • Bearing lubrication

Is lubrication necessary on the runnning gear bearings ? How best to do this without special equipment, e.g. pressure grease applicators. Any thoughts people ? Much obliged for any answers.
    Trex 450 SEV2.
Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !
    Trex 550 V2. Adrenalin ( brown kind )
mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.
    Several planks, gathering dust.

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

On your 450,Ken,the only bearings you can lube are the thrusts in main/tail blade grips and the one way in the main gear

    All other radials you cant.

Thanks for that Nick, sniffed on a different forum ( RCMF) been told that all bearings can be done with a grease pump gun and a piece of plastic quite easily. Or just a squirt of 3 in 1 every pre flying session. Academic really as when d'you ever see me out on the patch these days ? .

I made up a DIT bearign greaser at one point that neatly pushes out all the old dirty stuff and repacks the bearing UNTIL I read a few bearing seller sites that warn against it...claiming that over packing the bearing is bad.
Now apart from the thrusts and one-ways I leave bearings alone and chuck them if they get iffy...replace with moderate quality cheapish generic replacements in most cases, except for my high end machines.

You can get proper sealed for life bearings but they will have a bit more drag on them and not suitable for small models. I have to state that HK cheap ceramic bearings actually feel quite nice ..but too early to say how they hold up.

The align bearings are sealed, all the 3 in 1 will do is mess up the airframe, best thing to do is just renew the when they get notchy, they do suffer from crashes alot

..for the sake of accuracy the align bearings are shielded not sealed and oil will penetrate and wash out the grease.
