  • what budget 500

i want a budget 500 to build, what one would you recomend. a friend of mine has just built a hk j500 and he is very pleased with it but says next time he would get the gt, also in that range you have the hk500 with torque tube instead of belt, what is the best for a beginner. any other makes models you think i should look at(it must be electric because where we are flying will only allow electric

hk500 seems the well known one but if your a begginer go for a belt drive version

why not go for a trex 500gf

No such thing as budget in this hobby
      Nik.

      Before you ask:

      About 2 miles
      Over £500
      Very difficult
      Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

Don't forget the 'Search' and 'Thanks' buttons.

GO FOR A SECOND HAND TREX 500..

you will get one in the sale section here for sure..i have both...hk500gt..and trex 500 fbl.....

just go for the align...it will make sense in the long run...you will only upgrade the parts to align when you crash anyhow.

It would depend on if it's your 1st or not?, 500 hk would be ok to start with with some upgrades it will fly fine.

Prices for repair on a 500 are still quite cheap, but a 450 is alot cheaper to run on batts and if you decide you want to progress to then get the 500 as batts can be used in parralel.

500 more stable than a 450, last crash on my 500 was around £50, last crash on a 450 was £28, budget always plays a part.

You can never have to many batts

thank you for your advice everyone, i have a blade 400 which i love to bits, the reason for the 500 is it will be the first build for me, will look at the trex and price it up but this is just for me to expirience building and setting up and learning on, it is not for 3d(although my hovering looks like i am in 3d mode)

The Flasher 500 is also worth considering here

or the TT360 that will let you run 325mm - 360 mm blades . I have 1 and love it HERE It will give you the feeling of flying bigger with the 360 blades and parts are chesp. parts even cheaper than the Align

This is golden advice, don't ignore it. I plumped for a HK500GT as a budget beater but to be honest there were a number of issues which needed resolving which has put me right off. Some say theirs are perfect, mine was far from it and quite honestly a beginner might not have noticed some of the problems and crashed as a result. To top it off, a mate of mine just bought a mint secondhand Align 500CF for the same price I paid for my HK500. It's better specced in most respects, looks great and will hold it's value. I just wish that deal was available when I was looking.

Honestly, mate, wait for the right deal to come up and then strike. Belt drive is the preferred option for you as cashes will be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper this way.
