Surgical versus White Spirit

I used surgical spirit and it's fine, honestly.

After I soaked a bolt in it, and dry it, the bolt is bone dry.

Also, my threadlock has always held nicely after cleaning the bolts with surgical spirits so I don't think there's a problem.

Not saying ignor what the other guys are saying, they know what they're talking about. But seeing as you have just bought 500ml of surgical, I don't see the point in wasting it when it works just fine.

If your are using Isopropyl, what method do you use. Just been reading the warning on the back of the bottle and it doesn't look good to be incontact with your skin. Are people wearing gloves, or just putting a bit on a rag and wiping the bolts etc ??.

IPA is used by medics to clean injection sites so it can't be all that bad in terms of skin contact. I believe the medical concentration is 70% IPA with water.

As mentioned above it WILL degrease your skin so a bit of moisturiser after using it wouldn't go amiss.

Brake cleaner, Carb cleaner, meths, all work fine so does thinners and much cheaper but keep it away from plastics. also very good for getting sticky tape residue off cables & a thousand other uses as long as your careful
