Scarborough newby looking 4 Club & DX6i/Phoenix.v3 advise

Hi there chap(esse)s,

I've been lurking and reading for a while, having wanted to fly a Heli for years. Anyway after trying the useless £10 toy IR jobs, I've bitten the bullet and got a DX6i and Phoenix v3.

Having got things set up ok (I'm Mac based running it in VM Fusion) and managing to get the CX2 to fly well tail in, and nose in, I moved onto a T Rex 600.

Suffice to say I'm really struggling to get a stable hover as even with full cyclic expo/training gear etc it still drifts laterally and can't seem to trim it out, and am wondering if it is possible to trim it out at all?.

My cyclic 'human' compensation seems to be delayed and then I start to get into a lateral YoYo (Fore/aft is no problem). I am wondering if the Mac/VM Fusion isn't helping ?slowing inputs? to the sim. Or is it just more & more & more practice needed

So could someone suggest DX6i/Phoenix settings for the T Rex 600 to get me going please.

The second question is regarding Scarborough Model Flying club, as the web site seems to have disappeared, and wondered if anyone knows what's going on and how to contact them, or another local club re getting some training/help in North Yorkshire.

Welcome to the forum just try to be patient with phoenix, try to make your movements very slight it will get better with practice, most new flyers over compensate and end up all over the place

Hi Mike

Don't be under the impression that any cp heli is ever going to stay in a solid hands off hover like a coaxial CX2. They wont!
With practice you should be able to hold the heli in a smallish area, but never completely solid as they will always tend to drift off in one direction or the other and need some sort of correction.
This seems hard to get to grips with at first, but just keep practising and you'll soon start to get the hang of it

PS. If it helps at all, I find hovering the real thing is actually slightly easier than it feels in Phoenix.

i have phoenics and hate it but do think it helps to give the basics of use with a transmitter but thats it...
