Have a search for previous threads as this question has come up plenty of times before.

I started off with a Twister Storm which is very similar to the Blade400. Your choice really depends on you. The Blade is RTF (Ready to Fail) and has very poor components. If you don't intend to crash it and don't know how to fix helis then it is probably a good choice. It is not sold as a beginners heli. The spares are much more expensive than Clone prices. You will also probably upgrade the blades, the gyro and the servos, the body is plastic and won't stand much tail ground contact without the belt slipping, all the bloody time. The Clone build quality is awful but fixable if you know enough. It could be argued that by the time you've replaced all the dodgy bits with align ones that you may as well have bought a Trex. You may be missing the point that it is not so much the heli as the other bits you put on it. Have a look at the sort of head you can get for £20 from Giant Cod. Compare that with a metal head made from Blade400 upgrades. I think you need to be quite a good flyer to appreciate the accuracy of the Trex parts.

A 450 is also small for a first proper heli.

Ive had a flasher 450 v2 se clone for over 2 years now & still flys like new.. had only 3 crashes & replaced the bits with original trex parts... well worth the money if your on a tight budget..

one thing that did let it down which i ended up replacing was the clone gyro, that was cr*p.. get yourself a good gyro & tail servo & it will fly as good as any for a newbie...

The clones are fine, but you just end up modding and converting it into a TRex 450 anyway. So I would buy the B400, or shell out a bit more for a Trex450.

Not sure what your budget is, but this is quite reasonable. Just need Tx, rx and battery

FFS this comes up every 2 weeks!

Usual comments from knowledgeable flyers and ones from people who really ain't got a clue.

There ought to be some sort of competence rating system Stuart for members on here so that you could see who actually knew what they are on about and those who just regurgitate what they heard in the pub (or read last week).

How on earth a Blade 400 can be a better heli than say an all CNC Flasher is beyond me. Forget the servos, there's not much good to say about Align 410s anyway and certainly nothing good to say about Eflite ones. A decent metal/CF clone anyday for me over a plastic Blade 400 then fit the best servos and gyro you can afford

Who rattled your cage, getting a little grumpy aren't we Dave! So what if something was read on Here last week, and then the person who read it puts it on here again for somebody else to read, SO WHAT! That's partly how we learn, read stuff and pass it on FFS!
