Hi there I'm currently flying a elite msr can fligh figure 8 circuits now but struggling with nose towards me hovering ... I'm looking for the next step up 6ch electric heli and a little unsure .. Have seen the blade sr and also blade 400 but heard some different reviews saying the 400 maybe a to bigger step up .. Obviously I'm going to buy a copy of phoneix sim to plug in to tx to practise and know the 400 comes with dx6i which I believe is a good tx .. Nut does anyone a opinion on the blade sr or any other heli ? Any help would be appreciated !!! I have also an old honeybee fix pitch which is ok but bit battered as got second hand but have been warned off them .. Anyhow please help !!!

Hi i started off with a 3ch market jobby from the market and had that for a week,i went and bought a Copterx cx450ae which is a trex 450 clone that was in october and i am already flying short circuits and can hover on the spot,it depends how determined you are and how quickly you learn,of course i have had a couple of prangs but that comes with learning.

Welcome to the forum, blade 400 would be the better heli in the long over the Blade sr (but never owned either), the bigger the Heli the easier to learn on as it gives more stability and not as twitchy as a smaller one.

If you can stretch to a trex 450 that would be a great Heli to learn with, u can get a 2nd hand for around £150-£200 and it should be bnf, might also come with batts.

dx6i is also a good starter for a 450/500 Heli.

Trex 450 looks an amazin bit if kit but at moment till I know I can fly a heli well and am goin to keep it up as a hobby I want to spend a little less .. That's why I been looking at the blade sr and 400 , can get 400 fir £205 all in at mo.. I live in the isle of Wight and struggling to find anyone who can help teach me to fly so am learning myself .. Am swayin towards the 400 as it comes with dx6i and also that will tie up with phoneix sim well .. Should I steer clear of honeybees ???

Ok stick with the 400 as it comes with a dx6i , u can then use the tx for when u get another Heli (and u will ).

Not to sure of the honeybee?

Don't bother with the honeybee stuff, I had a Honeybee King 2 was a waste of money IMO. Have heard good things about the 400, and the DX6i is a good radio, I use one for my nitros as well, no problems with them, 6 channels is enough!

I agree with the above. I went from a coax Esky lama4 to the BeltCP - a sort of poor mans TRex450 [very poor lol].
I'd go for a Blade 400 or the TRex 450. Perhaps even a TRex450 clone like the HK450 from HobbyKing. Your build skills and knowledge will have a bearing on what you should buy, viz a viz RTF or a kit.

Time in the SIM will be of great benefit too.

I sort of agree with MURPH about the honeybee King 2. My first one came as RTF with a poor 35mHz tx and it was badly set up, which probably contributed to most of my early crashes but once I upgraded to a Dx6i, a decent Head Holding Gyro, Brushless motor and ESC they fly quite well are quite tough and cheap to repair. I still use both of my King 2's as warm up machines or to try out new moves before I get the more expensive toys out.

I do agree that the 400 + Dx6i looks like a good progression route and of course you can bind your MSR to the Dx6i too, so it saves having to take two tx's out with you when flying.

Hi Simon and welcome to Heliaddicts
Yes, Phoenix is a must and worth its weight in gold. It'll serve you well in the early learning stages and far beyond as well. So an excellent choice.
The Blade SR, despite what the promotional blurb says about it, isn't that good IMO
The Trex 450 is excellent But if your budget doesn't stretch that far and you can get the B400 for £205 all in then I reckon that's the one for you. As you say, it comes with a DX6i which is an excellent radio, and as starter helis go its way better than any horrible Honeybee.

I also agree with Graham on not going with the Blade SR, as my brother in law has the Blade CP Pro2 and it appears to use many common parts and everytime he as much as brushes the blades against anything it breaks the expensive wooden blades and the main gear/main shaft assembly resulting in a time wasting and quite costly rebuild.
