Just go with the 55! It'll save you having to upgrade at a later date!

The 55 is obviously more powerful but will use a bit more fuel. It depends what sort of flying your doing and your budget. If your still learning and don't need alot of power then the 50 will be fine. The 50 is still a reasonably powerful engine, you could buy a decent second hand one for £60-£80.

The 55 comes into its own when you need a lot of power for 3d flying. When coupled with a 55 pipe its one of the best engines out there.

the os55 is a very nice engine, however there is nothing wrong the the os50, they can be picked up pretty cheaply and produce good power i'm still running one in my knight 3d and see no reason to change it just yet

To be honest, up to a year ago the 50 hyper was the engine to have, in fact in my vision 50 i still run a 50 hyper and produces loads of power, though having the extra power of the 55 would be nice, i can't justify the cost in upgrading when the 50 hyper does the job and well. I use to run a 600 pro on a hyper as well and also had plenty of power.

you can get decent cases from maplins and cheap
also i run the os 50 and have no problems with it
nice cheap engine and got lots of power for what you want to do with it
unless your are a 3d god the os50 will be good for you

Nothing wrong with the OS50 ... Just buy whichever one that you want to .. Keep in mind that one lean run will eat the bearings on a 55 as they are under alot more stresses ..and are a little more fiddly to tune over the 50 as they have idle/mid and high speed adjustments where the 50 just have idle/high ... As for 3ding Charlie Cave won his group at the champs with an OS50 so you make your own mind up on that one

Although I am loving my 55 I ran an original SX (non hyper) with a 60B carb and it is the best engine I've owned, plenty of power and smoother than a babies bum. It's still my backup engine and will probably go into my 600 when the N5 arrives

If you get really serious, you could use a tool box from B&Q with wheels and a tool tray. It's what I use, but it is pretty heavy with everything in it (I have a car battery in there too).
