  • Can I use an XT60 connector?

    Hi there

I've just bought a Trex 550e and am about to start the build. I've been reading great things online about XT60 connectors and am wondering if I can use that on my stock RCE-BL70G Brushless ESC and 5200mAh battery.

I think the 70 refers to 70A, and believe the 60 of XT60 is 60A. Is this an issue? What sort of current would a 6S 5200 battery put out in normal/sport flight or 3D flight? For a complete newbie, I'm guessing that XT60 is absolutely fine for my requirements, but thought I'd check!

    Thanks in advance.

You probably want to use something a bit bigger. Although the XT60 is rated at 60A you might pull more than that

If your going to get your batts from hobby king then you would prob be better of fitting a 4mm shrouded bullet connector to your esc, so when you get your batts they are already to go

yup, got XT60's on everything from my 3S Trex450 batt's to my turnigy 6S's on the Trex600. never had any problems, not that I am an agressive flyer to be fair.

That would be good if HobbyKing only supplied lipos with one style connector, but alas they don't!

I think you might find the size batts for a 550 from hobby king come with the 4mm shrouded bullet connectors the smaller ones come with xt60

Fair point, I forgot you were talking about 550 size! Certainly on 500 and 450 size you'll get a mixture of connectors!

Must say that I use 4mm shrouded bullets on my 6S with great success.
