  • Running before I can walk?

Ok, so I've got a Raptor 50, I can nose in (my latest accomplishment!) and I can fly basic circuits and my flying is coming on well, wife and weather dependant!

The thing is I really fancy a Synergy N5! Is this going to be too much of a heli to handle in my early days, or can it be tamed down to suit a relativley new pilot?
Or should I can the idea of a Synergy for the time being and get a new Raptor X50?

I want a new heli as I love to build things, but I've not built a new heli before. That, and the synergy looks a sweet bit of kit!!

    Your musings please!

If you can nose in you are getting there

Realistically the choice is yours and depends on how deep your pockets are should you crash. The more different models you have the more spares you need to keep or rely on them being in stock should you bin it. Crash costs of an N5 will be higher then the Rappy, probably not by a huge amount but it will mean 2 lots of spares if you want to keep both permanently flying. The N5 flies well and can be dumbed down or made looney at your will so it can be made to suit your level. The canopy is fragile compared to the Rappy should you bin it, I broke mine dropping a coat hanger on it in the bed room

At your stage your money would be better spent on stick time ie. fuel but we all like new toys

My worry was that its going to be too advanced for my level of flying? Like buying a GSXR when you just past your bike test!

My first bike after passing my test was a GPZ900.

You have to remember the bigger the heli the more stable it is.

Any Heli can be calmed down to a "beginner" level through the use of heavier paddles/flybar weights, and tx settings (more expo, lower swash afr's etc). If you fancy one, go for it. Midlands were doing a very good bundle deal with servos, engine etc if you needed those?

Thats the combo I was looking at yeah, my only issue would be the cyclic servos, some Spektrum ones? Not used/heard of people using them? I'm sure they would swap them out for DS610's I imagine?

Go for it! I( can only do circuits on a good day and I have one of almost every sized Align there is. (I'm missing the 550).

                            Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.
