The bigger the heli the more stable it is. 250 size heli's arn't usually suited to beginners as they tend to be twitchy, unstable and very fiddly to fix after a crash. Your much better off getting a 450 size or bigger.

If your serious about learning to fly heli's buy a sim first. Most people use Pheonix, it will save you lots of money!

welcome dude,as said the bigger the heli the more stable they are . The flashers ,HK's are clones of the Align Trex series so in 99% of cases all the parts are interchangable so if you go down that route parts should be easy to find WHEN you crash and trust me we all do , once again welcome .

I'm with Sam, bigger = better and much less jumpy, much easier to learn with. I would tend to go Trex 550 for an electric solution or Trex 600 as a nitro machine.

Its the right time of year for getting some good 2nd hand kit - keep an eye on the for sale section.

        Oh, and welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum, the quality of heli's these days are drawn towards first time flyers but still take on level of skill so can be costly if crashed, as already mentioned Phoenix sims is your best way to start out.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Welcome to the forum, all the advice above is good, sim, with a bigger heli, buy what you can afford to fix. No point buying a 600 and crashing it, then leaving it in the shelf for months because you can't afford to fix it

                      Welcome to the forum

Agree with the above in size of the heli making it better for newbies, I would go with a 450 minimum and 500/550 size to start with, but try and get phoenix 1st if u can as this wil give u a good insite to see if ur going to like or not.

Try and pop along to a local club and have a chat with the Heli guys and u can also see some fly aswell.

If cost is going to be a factor then u might want to start on a 450 / 500 as these sizes tend to be not that exspensive to repair (trust me u will crash alot to start of with )

This hobby is not cheap once u get going and progress further into it, u just want bigger / better, so just make sure u can afford to maintain / upgrade (if needed) whatever Heli u get.

Batterys can be quite cheap on the 450 around £10-£20 each depending on were u buy them from, for the 500 they can work out alot more dearer, most people are using turnigy from hobbyking in china

Just remember practice does make perfect

Welcome to the forum, don't cut corners when buying your heli, tx lipos etc.

Get the best TX you can within your budget. Does not have to be that all singing dancing latest tx. A DX6I for example is fine for use on phoenix and in the air.

Flashers are good as have been mentioned. Training gear is a must for a first timer with a 450 size bird.

Also where are you going to fly it. If you are near a club and are looking to join then a 600 is a good choice but if you looking at your local common and learning alone to start with then a 450 is better for you.

Hi m8, and welcome to the forum
Not wanting to sound like a broken record here by repeating all of the above. But, the first things to get when entering this hobby is a good transmitter (Dx6i or DX7) and the Phoenix rc simulator. Then you can think about what heli to get. I wouldn't go for a 250 sized heli to start with (Far too twitchy for a beginner) Get a 450 or larger (Way more stable)
You might also consider (If your budget allows) getting a Blade mSR for a bit of indoor practice at home

Whatever you choose, I hope you have fun

Hi and welcome to the forum. Happy New year.

I'd go with the above: yes get the best TX you can afford, like the DX7 or even newer tech DX8 - they will out-live your helis!!!
A sim is virtually essential, and will save you lots of money in spares.

Regarding helis, depends where you intend to fly. A Blade mSR or SR120 would be excellent for indoors. Outdoors then you really want something the size of a 450 or even 500. A Blade 400 would be good starter, as would a TRex 450
