    Hi All,
    H.N.Y.

I have owned a shuttle plus for 3years..
Never did things right, crashed it both times i took it out - to be expected really!!
So, a bit wiser and lighter in the pocket..i brought a SIM that i connect my RD6000 to..Ive used that for the last 18mths on and off - but heavilly the last few months as i want to have another go .. with the heli

So started looking at my shuttle to get it airworthy again..

    Its a Shuttle Plus
    No tail (only boom)
    OS32 Engine

I have came up against some issues that i could do with help on..
The last crash, the engine reved high until i could cut it..
Since then I have had it running (12 mths ago) but mid throttle it spluttered as thou it was too rich..carb was set to factory default..
I noticed a leak on the head so removed the head, cleaned it and noticed that the liner was discoloured down one side (probably thru standing) some fuel had eaten the coating away? - there is a ridge - maybe 4thou\.1mm even less on the liner wall where the discolouration meets the coating?..
Is this bad ? - the engine hasnt done a lot of work as it was new when i had it.
secondly, the shuttle minus tail .. whats the best option here - upgrade it to shuttle plus 2 tail, a quick UK alloy one, a cheap ZXX one off ebay?
Ive got loads more questions but need to start here first...
Im really hoping if and when i get in a position again, itll be different with the help of the SIM and a club im intending to join...(i used to be in sutton when i first started but never got to use my membership)

    thanks

I would fix it with original parts. The ridge sounds like a tide mark where the oil has settled. I would strip the engine, use carb cleaner from a motor factor and clean it out. Re-assemble and then set everything to factory to get it running again. Doing that with the engine will give you a chance to check the liner and ring and maybe change the bearings at the same time.

i would also replace the head gasket

with the tail if you find one cheap enough get a used one off ebay
but do check the price of the new parts before you bid on anything

yes, I should have mentioned that was the reason why i initially had the head off - to replace the gasket on advice from midland..
The marks on the liner wall definately looks like slight errosion rather than a deposit...
The reason i also mentioned about the tail options was that I beleive this was an upgrade from plus to plus2?.
I have seen a complete case assembly on ebay in "good nick" for the ZXX cheaper than just a couple of tail parts for the PLUS \ PLUS2..
I just dont know how much of an improvement this upgrade made?..
I think i just want to get it operational at moment and if the SIM training pays off, consider my options on where i want to spend at a later date..

The only thing I can think is that it's rusted somehow. Can you get a couple of pics up, might help.

the plus 2 is running a sceadu type tail box, you won't notice any difference in flight from the zts/zxx box

with the liner i would use some fine grade wet and dry with a little oil and just break the glaze on the liner (don't go mad and don't try to get the marks out) and reassemble and try it
