  • Trex 250 SE vs. 450 sport

Oite guys probs not a quicky here but need some advice.

In the new year i am going to start a new project for my first "serious" heli.

But im in a bit of a muddle ive been looking at either as the title states a trex 250 se super combo or the 450 sport super combo. I already have a dx6i so will need a spektrum reciever and the other bits that arent included but what i would like to know is:

Whats the build difference like in the 2, as in is the 250 se made with slightly better parts than the 450, and would i be better with the 450 or the 250?

Im asking this as generally there is only 30-50 quid difference so i could possibly stretch the boat out if it turns out i would be better with the latter.

    Thanks guys luke

The 450 sport is a better heli mate, well more stable and easier to fly for sure. There isn't much difference in quality I would of thought? both metal head and tail with carbon frames? I have the 450 sport and its a great heli, I have never seen the point in the 250 model, unless you are are very good pilot and can fly indoors or chase it around outdoors on a very calm day.

    450 sport for me

The 450 is bigger so therefore more stable in the air. I agree with Simon, I have never seen the point of the 250 either. Its too small and fidgety for me and I know it might be good for indoors hovering about and stuff but most people want to get outside and the 450 is definately better suited for that than the 250

      Hope this helps

Ok... 250 is a twitchey little tool not for a novice... you will need an indoor venue as it dont care for much more than a mild draft... its damm tiny when you build it and the screws are made from align's very best cheesium.

The 450 on the other hand is rock solid and if you take a bit of care over trimming it out properly will hover hands off wouldnt even chance that with the 250. Put a decent tail servo and a quark on it and its a really nice bird and silightly bump resistant the 250 is a bit fragile.

450 for a novice is obvious

Lol i dont think i need any more opinions on that one then, but ill ask what would be the better way to go about it?

Super combo or kit then buy the servo's and gyro and that seperately to get better ones or what not, i am going to be building it over 2 months or so as the money works its way in

The combo kit is good value for money a £299 with everything. But the 410's have a rep for not being too reliable. I have hitec 65mg on cyclic, 750 gyro and 9650 on the tail. I think the kit is £190? so you could get the electrics 2nd hand? 3 65's for £40+gyro for £45-50, and tail servo for a bout £30?
