  • 30 Size Throttle Curve

I have Moskito Basic that i was given for free fitted with an MDS 30 engine. At the moment the pitch is 0 to 10 and the throttle curve is something i made up. It flies but it's not great, getting it down in the wind is very difficult with no negative pitch.
I am going to set the pitch to -2,1,4,7,10 on my transmitter (straight line). I am not going to go for the 3D curve with only the top end for flying the right way up on this model yet (although i am trying it out on my rex 450 which is taking a bit of getting used to).
What throttle curve would any of you recommend for this set up. Please feel free to advise for/against my choice of pitch curve.

Some one may correct me if im wrong but your throttle curve is quite important , the engine reves need to be ahead of the blade pitch on take off or the engine can bog down plus on landing (losing altatude) the engine reves must be just below the blade pitch or the heli can hang in the air as you say. Trial and error worked with me , ive gor my raptor set at -4 to +9 which is a good normal setup and start off with pitch curve s at 0 25 50 75 100 , then listen to the engine . Try from there

the throttle curves are set to give a constant headspeed. For this you need an engine that runs consistantly.

im yet to see an MDS that runs consistantly. They bring even experts out in a sweat when they appear at the field so as a learner your on for one hell of a battle. Take it to your local flying club and get some proper expert help and see how you get on. I would lay money on the MDS ending up in the bin sooner rather than later tho.

Since i was given this heli for free all i have changed on it are the gyro and tail servo (401/9254) which i can plan to take off and put on something else in the future.
I have been flying sloppy figure of eights with no nose in reasonably well a couple of times now but am trying to set up the pitch/throttle curves properly to help with that.
As for buying a new engine i'm trying not to as my plan is to fly this for as long as possible to get some stick time in. When in finally dies (either due to me or itself ) i will then kit myself out with a shiny new nitro heli in the Raptor 50 / 600N (and others) range.
