  • Syma s107

I have a Syma 107 for the living room which is great fun, i also had the s031 which was great fun until i took it outside, I have now lost my s031 as i felt it lacked control or maybe the wind caught it and it fell in someones garden maybe 6 doors down not sure. my question is i would like a better helicopter but is there anything i could fly as i am getting on real well with my 107 but i am thinking from reading this forum that anything else seems real hard to fly.

Any advice on what i could buy as i would love to get into this but lack patience.
    thanks matt

I have flown a few coax helicopters and they are simple to fly but saying that they also lack a challenge. As you have discovered they are indoor helicopters and are not suited to outdoor flying unless its absolutely still as they cannot cope with the lightest breeze.

Be prepared for quite a jump in cost if you want a model that can fly outside, however the hobby is very addictive and challenging and when you experience a CP (collective pitch) helicopter you will hopefully see why.

There are many helicopters to consider but I would recommend you dont look at anything smaller than a 450 size - the larger the heli the more stable (and more costly both to purchase and repair).

I am sure plenty of people will jump in with their recommendations, I believe the Blade 400 is a serious contender however for around £300. It all depends on how deep you pockets are. 12 odd years ago when I started out with helicopters I spent well over £500 but I was young free and single

      Thanks for reply.
Will the other helicopter you talk about be much harder to fly?
If so is there a much better version of what i have now that i could buy?

Very strange matt someone found a syma heli and handed it in to our LHS
but surely it cannot be yours ? because we live nearly 500 miles apart !!! Hope you get on in this hobby and find a heli you can have more fun with

That is strange, with my flying it could be 500 miles away. LOL
