    hi all i am at a loss!!! what are single and duel conversion crytals?
    whats the difference, and do you have to have the same tx and rx ?.
    also i have the jr x-378 tx do you have to set the radio up for single or duel conversion crytals many thanks.

    the tx crystals are all the same.

    Single and dual conversion refers to the way the final frequency is arrived at in the receiver. The crystal acts as an oscillator, and the reciever uses the frequency to match it to the transitted carrier.

    In a dual conversion Rx you need a dual conversion crystal.
    In a single conversion Rx you need a single converson crystal.

    Like I said before, the Tx is always the same type of crystal.

      A dual conversion Rx needs a dual conversion crystal. Likewise a single conversion. You can't swop.

      The Tx crystal is the same either way.

      There is a thread somewhere else recently explaining this in more detail. But I think basically a dual conversion filters the signal twice to help eliminate errors/noise.
