    how do i do it? do i need to unsolder the wires off the motor to thread them back through the carbon tube?

    Have you broken the boom then.?
    If so once you have managed to extract the boom from the holders, then the answer is yes, hope its not to difficult to get the old boom out

        Yes,

        Unsolder the wires from the motor (Noting which way around they go)
        The boom is usually superglued to the frame, likewise the tailbox is usually superglued to the boom.
        Both can be a pig to remove.

        Nail varnish remover can help soften the glue, but removal usually involves breaking or cutting the boom at the frame and drilling or scraping the remains out of the frame enclosure...Same applies for the tailbox...

        Fitting a new boom is simple enough, just pull the wires through it and attach it to the frames with a drop of superglue/Cyano.

        Buying lengths of carbon tube and cutting to the correct length can usually work out cheaper than buying the genuine item.
