  • What does everyone think of the ESky Belt-CP

I'm 19 and i did use to fly vintage fixed wing when i was about 15. i loved flying but i just lost interest for some reason. i want to get back into flying and i like the idea of heli's, i always loved them but my grandad said the were too complicated to fly, so i never bothered. my m8 has bought one of them rc helis toys off ebay and i had a go n loved it i know its only 2ch but its so adictive.

this is the heli im thinking if buying - i have about £200

Hi, start with a Fixed Pitch heli.... These are so good for training and most times a crash won't cost anything. Keep a center hub in stock and your away!

            http://www.jperkinsdistribution.co.u...%20-%20Twister

I still have mine and it is still used in doors or on a low wind day in the garden. I have the CP like the one on your new link but crashes will take out boom and blades as the head speed is a lot faster!

            Thats my advice !

I'd recomend you go visit a club get some advice etc.

Helicopters are not easy machines to learn but they are addictive.

My advice avoid the FP/CP small electric crap.

Go find a Club get advice go see them in action.

Helicopters like planes are easier to fly the larger they are so a small electric is twitchy and well a little bugger where as a Raptor 30 - 50 is far more stable and the better machine to learn with.

              BMFA Club list is here:

              http://www.bmfa.org/clubs/clist.php

Bad news is helicopters start up isn't cheap around 600-900 pounds, you can do the 2nd hand route but becareful and unless you know what your looking at get help. But 2nd hand can cause loads of issues....

                    Hello mate and welcome.

I would definatley agree with what the other guys have said. These little fixed and collective pitch electric helis look the part but are very very difficult to fly and really not suited to a beginner. (I know of guys with lots of experience who find these machines a challenge). It seems lots of people go through the same loop when starting out. I started with a twister CP which frustrated me so much I nearly gave up.

"Disc" hit the nail on the head reccomending a visit to your local club to get some help. He's also dead right about the 30/50 size nitro helis. Having said that it's a big investment if you're not sure about the hobby yet.

With fear of being predictable may I suggest one of the contra rotating models that are available - i'm not suggesting a 2 channel "toy" but something along these lines
                    http://www.elitemodelsonline.co.uk/Products/Helicopters/Electric/item25354?startPos="]

                    or

                    http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/ac...o_6600040.html

These models will at least get you used to working with four channels.

Please bare in mind these models are limited. They are really only any good for indoor use or very calm days.

Then with the rest of your budget get yourself a simulator (assuming your pc is up to the job). Now I'm no expert in this field but phoenix seems to be the order of the day. Now hopefully someone will jump in and let you know if you can use the tx supplied with either of these helis with the sim. I have a feeling the twister one will work but I stand to be corrected on that.

Hope some of the above is helpful.
2 other bits of advice -
                    1) don't give up
                    2) Keep using this forum. I probably would have given up myself without some of the guys on here giving good advice and encouragement.

You will blow 100 pounds just buying a naff FP model then all the spares and then you want more from it and bling it...

                          WHY!!!!!

you'll spend more on a FP shite which actually doesn't help you that much with the bigger machines anyway.

Seen it all before, I call it the expensive way to get into helicopters funny enough.

I just sold my Knight pro airframe for 130 inc load of spares and you'll find other models on the BMFA website as well. just get some help from someone at a Club. Okay it needed servos engine but ebay provides all....
