  • Gyro help please

    Hi,

Say I lift off with the heli pointed north and hover in that position, then I turn the heli so as its pointed west.Should the heli hold the new position or ,should it slowly move back to pointing north?

Mine slowly wags back to north and then holds, can someone give some suggestions as to what might be wrong.

    Cheers
In case I forget to thank anyone Thanks In advance

Flasher 450,Gyro gt400(the one that came with it,tail servo(cheap one that came with it). Will be upgrading gyro and servo but cant afford it just now,was just trying to get it flying with what I have.

What percentage should I have rate mode set at when setting up?
In case I forget to thank anyone Thanks In advance

all gyros are different ... just set rate/HH to the same of 50 as its a good starting point ... set the gyro/tail up in rate mode first so it does not drift then flick over to HH and see if that cures it ..

Cheers for the advice but should the tail be wagging back to where I first lifted off or stay where I put it?
In case I forget to thank anyone Thanks In advance

it should stay where you puy it in hh mode, but all gyros drift a little, just some more than others, normally the cheaper 1s drift more, or when poor setup

if you get the mechanical part right you can acheive a decent tail for your learning days, and change once you start doing more complex flying

you always better off buying a kit and then putting the bits " you " want into it .. .might cost more but in the long run its cheaper as you not spending out for more bits when you find the parts that come with it are sometimes cheap and nasty .. spend once and spend right .. if you set it up in rate mode first and stop the drift you will find the gyro will work better if its a cheaper one as its not fighting all the time and only has to make small adjustments so should work better , thats if your mechanical setup is right ...

I my (Limited) Experience, A poor heli can be made to perform fine, Cheap electronics cant !

Invest in decent electronics (Ie gyro and servo) and they will serve you well, And save money in the long run. And a decent gyro can be fitted to ANY heli, so you never need to change it.
