  • Crashed.

Well it had to happen eventually, and sods law it happened after I spent hours and hours getting the gyro working and transmitter working perfect.

Started to take off and as soon as the helicopter left the ground it started spinning so I thought it was the gyro acting up again so I throttled off and nothing happened, tried to ram it into the ground with controls... nothing.

So at just over a meter off the ground it started cruising across the field straight for a hedge and fence, it hit it pretty hard and the blades exploded straight away (only found one blade) and I got to it shortly after and stopped it.

From the looks of things I have only lost the main blades and the tail is slightly bent but I am waiting for a charge to finish so I can flash it up and have a go.

I honestly have never been so scared when that thing started doing its own thing and flew away, first thing I was thinking was there were people right behind the fence it was heading for.

Also does anyone know where I can get the little caps for the control sticks for my transmitter? I lost one running across the field.

Bad luck mate. At least the damage is faiirly minimal and more importantly, no-one got hurt.

Do you have all the bits to get her back in the air? Still a little while before the shops close...

Just make sure you suss out the underlying problem, complete loss of control

Ah right. Not good but at least it was that simple

Always best not to go for just one more flight and then I'll charge the Rx pack Been there myself

Bad luck! Hope you get airborne again soon.

PS - do us a favour? Can you resize your images when you upload or link to them? the 4000x2672 pixel takes an age to download on my 20mb broadband. God knows how long it'd take on a slower connection.

              Really? Mine loads in 5 - 10 seconds on a 10mbit line :S

              I'll start resizing them though

No biggies - it's just that I got bored waiting for it to download. Perhaps it's my low attention span.

Good choice of heli the raptor, I would check the main shaft as that would most likely have a bend in it now, also the feathering shaft will most likey have a bend in it as well.

Surprisingly it ended up just being the tail boom and the main blades, a double joint was a little bent but we straightened that back up and just have to wait for the parts to arrive

Will double check both shafts again though to be sure.
