  • I got off the ground!

After standing around with the engine idling for about half an hour trying to avoid the question it eventually happened - "Shall we give it a spin then?"

Fitted the training gear (Thanks Darryl!) and started spinning it up and down to get a feel for the speed of the blades.

After nearly bricking it hearing the engine at 40% throttle I finally did it - I flew up a meter and came back down softly, hands are still shaking now!

Absolutely amazing, going to dedicate a lot more time to get to know this hobby in depth and hopefully get flying around without the training equip!

Thanks a lot to everyone that has given me advice over the past couple of days on this forum, really appreciate it!

Well done mate! A few tanks with the training gear to get comfortable of getting her up and down and then you'll be ready to whip them off!

          Take your time and enjoy!

                      Well done
I left the hobby 3 years ago and discovered Women.

                      I wish I never left.

Thanks I did some forward flying / nose in hovering today and got on pretty well, simulator has helped tremendous amounts.

Great first couple of days in the hobby!

you shouldnt need training legs if your hovering nose in on the second day!

When I first started I actually found the TG useful for some time after I was capable of controlled landings and flying nose in. I was even flying circuits with them on.
Admittedly part of this was a psychological crutch / safety net or whatever you want to call it. But more importantly, I also found them to be a very useful visual aid.
They have of course long since been dumped, but at the time I found them a big help

Nowadays I think Id be better off having air bags fitted
