been flying just over a year, to the stage now where im doing fast figure of eights, forward flight pirroettes and a bit of backward flying, what do i do next? just got myself a trex 600 to hopefully help me progress, been using pheonix quite a bit and find i can do the tricks on there how does it compare with regards to stick movements?

I am currently getting all my orienatations nailed.

    Forwards clockwise + anti-clockwise
    Backwards clockwise + anti-clockwise
    Inverted forwards clockwise + anti-clockwise
    backwards inverted clockwise + anti-clockwise

..also working on orientations..flips into and out of inverted front/back/each side tail-in nose-in and sides-in in-between which I'm trying to improve my aileron ticktocks and starting backwards flying now the inverted forwards is solid...

The hardest excercise for me is doing it all v e r y slowly...fast piro's easy but try doing a 30sec level piro on the spot in gusts...

Exactly the same as sacko for me at the mo. Get those orientations sorted.
        Try forwards and backwards rectangles.

Been practising this for months, starting to get really good and it helps loads with everything else.

Try some stall turns, advancing to double turns

probably same as above, practicing orientations and turning away and back towards me (if that makes sense) think a reverse '8' - this my old brain struggles with.

I would try loops, stall turns and aileron flips if your looking for a bit of 'wow' factor. Not to difficult, give yourself plenty of height tho, particularly on the flips.

The first thing I did after figure 8's was a backflip. If you can do that in Phoenix then just get in a stable hover with a good bit of height, think it through in your mind for a second and then go for it. The stick movements are certainly very similar to Phoenix but it's just a bit more nerve wracking in real life.

all the above is very good advice.

One hint: always find the most difficult variant.
For example circles. Clockwise or anti-clockwise. Which one is harder? That's the one you should practise. Forwards, backwards or side-in?
It's a long-term project, but it pays off, especially if you're serious about 3D (and then, the same inverted...). Once you go to piroing flight (snakes etc) you have to know each and every one of them by heart. So start early.
