    Indoors.....mSR
    Outdoors/large garden.....SR120
First CP heli......Trex 450 or simliar.

I have both the mSR and the SR120.
The SR120 is abbo fabbo but it does need a bit of space.

I have access to 40ft x 60ft dance studio and believe me you have to have your wits about you 'cos it can get up quite a speed.

Once my current workload slacks off a bit I am going to look for a 450 of some sort.
I had a crack at the Blade SR CP heli but it was a bit off a handful and spares can be hard to find.

I would suggest getting Phoenix Flight Sim and a DX6i or DX7 so you can practice on your pc.
I must say that what little control I have is mostly down to Phoenix.

Thank you for all of your advice.

I have gone for a 120 SR BNF and two spare batteries. My friend round the corner has a spare TX as he now uses a DX6i so that saves me £30.

Now I just need to find out what are the best spares to keep in my toolbox!

I always get the following.......blades,blade grips, skids, tail rotor, main shaft and gear minimum.
If you can afford it a spare canopy, main motor and tail motor would not go amiss.
Depends on how bad your flying is really.....if it's anything like my efforts then I wish you the best of luck

          Thanks for that list.

I will order those over the next couple of days. The heli arrived this morning so I won't be doing much more than powering it up and down for the first few days.

Give it a few batts and you will be flying round in circles backwards

Esky helicopters are often rubbished but in their defence they are cheap to repair with loads of UK and 'overseas' spares sites on the internet and will teach you the required skills very quickly. My mate has a Blade CP2 Pro and when he stuffs it in, apart from wooden main blades at £10.00 a pair (compared to 5 sets of Esky equivalents at £15.00 from Heliguy) it always breaks the main gear (which is glued to the main shaft and costs £5.00) so a major strip down is needed and as there is no one-way bearing the (brushed!) motor and sometimes the 4:1 are prone to failing if the throttle kill switch is not activated pdq. Same goes for the tail motor and currently everybody (even MH!) is out of stock of the tail rotors (EFLH1324), which I believe are also used on the new SR120, so there must be quite a few Blade CP2 Pro's and SR120's grounded at present.

In conclusion then, yes all of the Esky's can be a pain to set up and do have a bit of slop in some of the assemblies but I think the HBFP and the Esky Belt CP are probably responsible for more people entering and staying in this hobby than any other helicopter around. Most people start off any hobby with something cheap and cheerful then progress slowly to more advanced (and thus more expensive) units and with the plethora of advice on the forums the Esky's are a good bet if you like a challenge but need adive and support.

                help for the new boy

                Hi,
Can anyone give me some direction regarding which helicopter to purchase, I currently have a 3 channel salvation 3. I would spend up to £150, and would like a larger size than the current chopper. Any help would be very much appreciated.

                At your mercy!!

I can only offer advice as a complete noob who apart from a toy coaxial owns a 120 SR but I think it is brilliant.

Ok, I have broken mine and can't see why or how to fix it but that was my fault.

£129 to buy with tx or £99 without. A decent size and really docile to fly. I love mine.
