  • 2nd day, 2nd battery :)

Well, today I managed to hover my 2nd pack with loads more confidence, even to the point of walking the heli right round me (tail in) and even sending the heli away from me side on, turning and back again, finally doing a number of piro's both left and right. However, one of these was the cause of the day ending sooner than planned, as the belt jumped partially off the rear teeth causing a large drop in RPM, but I managed to save it and it all went back in the case in 100% good nick.

To say I am buzzing is an understatement. Video is uploading to Youtube now, so I'll post a link here shortly. I'd be delighted to receive comments/criticism both good and bad. Am I rushing things? Should I just be spending more time hovering in place?

mate, go as fast or as slow as you feel comfortable with, as you are the one in control of your heli, nobody else will ever push you more than you should yourself, so do as you want and ppush yourself, you will learn alot more that way, although would advise, like I have been advised to learn your hover in all orientations, that way, wherever the heli is you will be able to know what input you need if you get into difficulty

Cheers for the words of advice...I have been practising nose-in hover on Phoenix like mad, but have yet to master it, although I'm spending more time than my wife likes on it

Here's today's video (thanks to the wife for filming and looking after our 3 year old single handedly!) It might still be processing for a while as it was filmed in hi-def (9:20pm).

looks good, just try to get those soft more controlled landings in, and practice them mate, that way you can get rid of the training gear, then the heli is so much better to fly

wow well done second battery thats some going!

just one point.dont fly around yourself, all your flying should be done "out front" imagine a line 3mtrs in front of your position and dont fly your side of it.doing that turning thing puts the heli between you and your loved ones! not good if it goes wrong as it did

yup fair point (from a safety point of view). I wanted to see if tail control and aileron acted the same as on the sim (which it did). Won't be doing it again. All part of learning my heli, how sensitive it is, does it react how I've become accustomed to in Phoenix etc etc (although I fly a 600 due to visibility etc on Phoenix).
