have you ever lost your confidence in flying?

at this precious moment in time i have lost it big time, since last december ive flown 3 three times and crashed twice out of the three times, now my confidence is lower than a snakes below on a summer afternoon, bearing in mind im only hovering getting used to flying mode 2 instead of mode 1.

today it started to have a head wobble at about 10 inches of the ground so eased of the throttle and walop time boom strike, bits flew of everwhere.

New blades, flybar, feathering spindle, tail boom, new servo arm on the rear mounted servo.

I think i will pop down to dorset next weekend to see ade and finish of my flying lessons from last year to get some confidence back again.

Ive even considered reverted back to mode 1 least i can get some flying back, trouble is im stuck between the two now it will just confuse matters now if i revert back

Any Help on this matter i willing to try anything

ps i have a simulator and and i can hover on this, as well as nose in quite well, its just the real thing i cant do!!!!!!!1
If You Cant Dazzle' Em With Brilliance, Baffle' Em With emmmm you know the rest

    Hi Kev

I'm sorry to hear of your bad luck. Teaching yourself to fly a different mode must be difficult enough and then to get a boom strike like that?

I'm new to heli flying, but I've been flying planks for ages. I always used to have a 'go-to' plane for when I'd not been flying much and the confidence was low. It was an easily-to-fly simple plane that owed me nothing, so there were no emotional attachements to it.

As you already have a sim, I suggest that, if you can, get yourself a 'go-to' heli. Perhaps one of these contra-rotating JP Twister Bells. Something that you can fly even at the lowest of confidence times. Get some trouble-free stick time in and I'm sure you'll start to pick up a little.

    Good luck, mate.

    Cheers
    Andrew
I've got a perfect flying record - I've not left one up there yet!

        Hey Kev,

I know exactly what you mean. Its not just confidence knocking, its bloody expensive too.

I dont really lose confidence in flying, more the models I fly.

The first crash I had with my Evo 50 was me having a brain fart, I found it pretty cool at the time and was flying a bit cocky. Then the engine went within 2mins of having it fixed and in the air again.

I replaced my Trex for an SE as I could never get her in the air. I flew the SE a couple of times and was in love with the hobby again... Then bosh, the wind got me Rex and took her to the fence.

Get her back up and running and tried to get the tracking sorted myself. My confidence had taken a smash and I couldn't get it to track right. Then I couldn't get any lift until about 80% stick up. Then when I moved the stick down it just piled into the ground. I've now had to buy a new motor

This hobby is lovely and very addictive, but the crashing at the moment is absolutely killing things for me. Its the expense and the missus aint happy.

Just looking forward now to getting my little one back and flying that and the big en. Just some simple hovering for now to at least get some stick time.
        Cheers

        Jim
