  • Futaba 3010 servo what voltage ?

i am currently using futaba 30 10s on my T rex 600 nitro cyclic
    i want to fit a Align GP 750 <gyro/ 650 tail servo
can i run my rx set up at 6V with the futaba servos ?
    at the moment i have a 3010 x3 cyclic and GY401 / 9254 set up ?

The 3010's will take 6v, the 9254 will but only if it is actually 6v, ie regulated to 6v.

When they say 4.8v only what they mean is 4 cell pack (NiMh/NiCd) only which has a nominal (voltage at half charge) of 4.8v but when they are fully charged they are about 5.7-5.8v and that doesnt kill those servos.

What does kill them is a 5 cell pack with a nominal voltage of 6v plugged into them that when its fully charged will be around 7v.

So your choices are pretty much stick with a 4 cell NiMh/NiCd pack, go with either a 2s Lipo or 5 cell NiMh/NiCd pack and put a regulator on there, or if you arnt using a regulator put a voltage drop down inbetween either the gyro and tail servo or receiver and gyro, such as a diode soldered in series with the power wire (either + or - lead would work)

Personally I'd go with 2s lipo and a 6v adjustable reg and set it to no more than 6v for all servos.

align 2 in 1 or n e of the other makes are quite good .. elyQ regs ... fromeco make one of the best regs out there with adjustable 6 volt and also sep 4.8 volt for gyro/tail servo

I have been using the Flighttech 8AVR one on a T-rex 700 and an Evo 50, all digital servos, throwing 3D at them, so they seem to be able to handle the extra load from that type of flying, with 3010's you'll be pulling less current than digitals.

I've been using 3010s in various models for years at 6V - they work just fine and are indeed specified for 6V usage.
