Well, after my nice wife let me bring my blade 400 to Cyprus on our summer holidays all I can say is that it all takes time, patience and some spares.
So far only one crash where I hit a wall, and some electrical problems where a couple of servos just went funny.
But after about 12 packs or so I was able to hold the heli (with training gear) in a fairly stable hover, manage with light gusting and get her up to about 6 feet without getting scared. So off came the training gear! And did half a poak just practicing getting her down nice and smooth.
Felt great. I have enough spares for another major smack, or a few minor ones but my main (holiday) goal of being able to hover the blade stabily for a whole pack has almost been achieved. It is a much harder heli to fly than my trex 600n but a bit of selective fiddling with the throttle curves, gentle use of controls I'm getting there and she flies really nicely.
I also discovered that (overlander) 2200 packs make the heli behave quite different from the std eflight ones.
So tomorrow hopefully put a few more packs through her without having to get the toolbox out.
