  • Good heli for garden flying

So i have had a MCX2 for a while now and are looking for something to fly in the garden.

With this it cant be anything to big.

I check the Hirobo Quark, but its very expensive in the EU.
New E-flite 120 SR looks nice but not released yet.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers!

Depends on the size of your garden, but the Blade SR, or a Trex 250 maybe?

Just make sure you keep it away from your house!

I would have to agree about the T-Rex 250, it is perfect for the garden. A friend bought one round and trusted me with the controls. I have a tiny garden, but felt much larger with this small heli. Like he said, just keep it away from the house

I started off with the Hirobo SRB Quark (fixed pitch) in the garden - brilliant heli and though expensive, well worth it as it started my successful re-introduction to Single rotor helicopters having previously given it up as too difficult. It cost nothing to run, very crash-resistant except foam blades, which when covered with selotape were very resilient and re-usable.

Main problem with the Quark (and the new Quark Pro which will be CP) is that they are not 2.4 BnF or 'fit your own RX' and now I will not have any new machine that is not flyable with my JR 2.4 Tx (i.e. Spektrum).

Trex 250 is great, but an order of magnitude or three more difficult to fly than the Quark.

                heli

has to be a trex 450 or a blade 400 ,and when really bad/windy weather just the job for indoors.

Although I agree with having a 250 for the backyard, I would have to emphasise on the fact that it is not quite tame as one would imagine. Increased headspeeds of the main rotor head head means it loves the open air more.

I would highly recommend you get your skills (orientations) toned - or atleast close to it on a 120SR before you progress to this little heli. Don't get me wrong - the trex 250 is an awesome heli that tends to try and take control of you, the pilot - if you get what I mean.

Do not disregard the blade mSR and 120SR during the course of your venture. They can be incredibly good for their use as learning tool. And they are fast!

                  Cheers,

Honey Bee FP. Much maligned by people who have never actually flown one but those that have will tell you they fly very well. They're great for the garden and cause little damage and pretty bomb proof. The new V2 HBFP is nice. Cheap as chips too. Also it's well represented in all the forums. Helifreak has a busy HBFP community with many CP owners still flying them.

I would also agree with the comments about the Trex 250. While it may be small it really begs for more space than you would think.
