Hi Guys
I just had my first minor accident tonight. Was getting on very well with hovering and felt very comfortable, so I brought the heli down to about 2-3 feet off the ground and placed the tail to my right hand side so it was properly side on. Again it didn't feel too scary and anytime I thought I was getting out of shape I brought the tail back into line and back into a gentle hover.
I did this a few times and then stupidly put the tail to my left. I hadn't thought this through, I suppose I was too comfortable with the controls for my own good. I quickly got out of shape, I tried to correct but I seemed to make it worse so I relaxed the throttle hoping for a gentlish touch on the ground with the training gear. I didn't figure on the tail coming down first. It just brushed the ground and I heard a strange noise I didn't like. I quickly shut the engine off and went over for an inspection. One of the plastic push rods for the rudder pitch has broken.
I'm more annoyed that I missed such a nice evening for practising than I am for crashing. I know I'll have the heli up in the air by saturday afternoon again.
I think I'll practise that manuevre more on the sim in between times, but I really loathe the computer sim, as it just doesn't give you the same buzz. I'm a real sucker for doing things the hard way
Anyway story over!!
