Hi guys,
Is it normal for a heli to try to swing the tail anticlockwise whilst power is applied? In mine I have to overcome this tendency by applying a bit of opposite rudder as I apply power whilst trying to hover. I'm reasonably comfortable with it now and I'm able to work around it, my tail just moves a little more than I have seen on some vids. I'm guessing I need to up the gyro gain a little. I think the problem may also be that I don't have a 'proper' tail servo, just a standard cheapy. I also have the gyro centrally mounted, should I forward mount it so that it picks up the tail movement faster?
I'm now able to hover reasonably well, another 6 or 7 tanks and i'll be getting there. I can keep the heli off the ground at a height of between 1 feet and 5 feet throughout the duration of a tank of fuel, I can also keep it within a 4-5 metre box in the same time period with some mild wind. I'll not be happy until I can close the box into about 2m and keep the height steady at between 3-5 feet. Only then will I allow myself to progress onto side on hovering.
looking forward to the replies
