  • Confused about tracking

I've just been watching fineless bobs blade tracking video and got a little confused. Can someone please answer a couple of questions.

Q1)If say I set my helis head up perfect and got my pitch perfectly at 0 degrees pitch on both blades, then balanced my blades perfectly, then why would there be any need to track the blades?

Q2)When he was correcting the tracking he was lenghtening/shortening the rods wich you use to set pitch.Wont that just put my perfect zero degree pitch out of position?

Q3)Do you have to do blade balancing/tracking for tail blades?

Sorry about all the questions I've asked over the last week,Its just I had a lot of problems with my cp gold when I took this hobby up a couple of years ago,Which made me give up.Now that I'm back I would like to stay back And try and get everything right. Thanks
In case I forget to thank anyone Thanks In advance

Q1, You may not need to, but consider a blade travelling at an excess of 2000rpm the tiniest amounts of difference in pitch will cause the blades to lift differently.

Q2, What you are setting is static and as soon as you start to move something then it becomes dynamic, IE external forces act upon the disc. It does alter it but the way to ensure your not changing too much is to mark the blade you have set at 0 and then only alter the other blade.

Q3, As far as I know you can't change the tracking for tail blades most tailblades and mains for that matter won't need balancing as the manufacture these days is so good

    Hope that helps.

Because of external forces acting on the blades, i.e. centrifugal force and air pressure.

Perhaps, but only slightly. The adjustments made whilst adjusting the tracking are often only very minor, hence it might make a fraction of a degree difference. One must be careful not to end up "chasing" the right settings tho. Finless explains what he means by this in his videos

Balancing - perhaps, but I've never done so. Tracking - no, there is no means of adjusting the link lengths on any of the models I have built.

Isn't the CP Gold made by Esky?
          Nik.

          Before you ask:

          About 2 miles
          Over £500
          Very difficult
          Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

Don't forget the 'Search' and 'Thanks' buttons.

cp gold is made by twister, has the most sloppy head.I can move the head ten degrees in all directions with with my hand.I think the new heli will be much better.
I broke the first rule when buying a model, just took the first one the guy in the shop said was suitable.
If any other new guy is reading this dont just rush out and buy a heli,do some research first.
