What to read next?

Hi,I was told to read as much as i can and thats what I've been doing for the last week non stop.this is what i've read about so far.

Pitch/throttle curves
Blade balancing/tracking
Basic ccpm setup
Gyros
tail setup
Also tried reading about batteries but didn't quite get my head round it
head speed
How a heli works

Can anyone advise anything else that I should be reading about?

I'd suggest reading up on engine setup, choice of glow plugs, or the effects of pinion gears on electric setups if your going electric.

Also how to properly set up the geometry of the linkages for the throttle (if going nitro) and tail linkage geometry.

That and what you've listed should cover most of the important stuff. I noticed you mentioned batteries if going electric then thats something you really do need to get your head arround, also if going electric, you should read into the placement of electronics on a heli to reduce the chances of things like the ESC causing interference to other components, essentially try to keep things like the receiver and gyro as far away from the ESC, battery and motor as you can.

Read about Schroedingers Cat and Quantum Multiverse theory. That way you never know what's happening and even if it did then it didn't happen in another subset of reality

What I'm going to say now is partly tongue-in-cheek, partly provocative, but entirely my view on how to make life easier when when a beginner...

[That's not to say there aren't drawbacks, or other options]

Motor

Go electric. Use a Castle Creations ESC in governor mode. Pick the headspeed from the heli manual or expert advice. Use the CC set-up utility to configure your motor, gearing, ESC, etc.

Tail

Use a Spartan DS760 with a recommended servo, in HH mode. Follow their instructions. Your tail will just work, even if you do a less than perfect job (probably).

The Rest

This leaves you more time and energy to worry about the rest. However, you know you have a constant, suitable head-speed; and the heli will stay pointed in the right direction.
