  • Confused , help required TREX 500 FBL

    Hey All

I have a 500 FBL which has just come back from the shop following set up and initial flight which i observed all good .. tonight Ive stuck some training gear on it took it out to the field and A)I didnt get the 3 beep ok when connecting the battery but a number of beeps and noises B) when spooling up the heli was forcing down rather than up ?

Now being a complete novice I cant quite figure out why this would happen and am assuming its down the the TX settings??

    Any thoughts?

I have no experience on the FBL but are you getting positive pitch when you should be getting negative?

If so it might be your swash mix. However, unless you've been fiddling in the Tx, this would not have changed from it's last flight, unless the shop messed with it.

      Hi Martin

The shop set up the TX and all was working ok with no further meddling... we did reverse the mix as we reversed the seating postion of the 3g unit but that was pre flight...
      Aileron shows -60
      Elevator shows +60
      Pitch at 52

Forgive my next question. Being a newbie, do you know how and if your throttle hold is set up? If so, engage throttle hold and watch the blades. When you push the left stick up (assuming you are using mode 2), do the blades both move into positive pitch (i.e the leading edge moves up)?

If you don't know about TH, disconnect the motor from the esc and then push the stick up.

Hmm, not heard of anyone using training gear on a FBL model Graham.

As for the pitch, it is either reversed or you have full negative at bottom stick

Fair point, Tom. Even tho I'm not at full neg at low stick, I still don't get to the hover point on my stick (5-6 degrees of pitch) until around three-quarter stick.

I'm worried as to how it got reversed, Crofty. Might be an issue with the radio here so do take care (unless you've been messing and don't wanna say! )

Graham, I'm not familiar with the 3G unit, but the beeps you're hearing sound like those given off by the ESC when it initialises.

When you say forcing down, I presume you mean that it spooled up with negative pitch? Do you have idle-up, setup?

Right just been outside spooled up and it was worse so set the pitch back to original and now ok ..odd how it wasnt doing that initally maybe it was the 3g unit settling down!??
so in all just had my first hover of sorts ,controlled height but the heli did a run around the 2 acre field now pi**ing down but its a start

thanks for all the replies guys
