Hi,

Today my Heli arrived. I had had enough of the virtual flying and thought I would go for it. Well for 90 quid the CP Pro2 Blade RTF was a bargain.

Anyways. I rushed home as you do, charged it somewhat unconvetionally from a car battery and took it outside. The wind was not the issue, the idling and throttling scared the life out of me, the cats departed left and right instantaneously (not even my cats!) the bees disspeared and the clouds parted. I throttled down and called it a night, I can see this learning to fly a heli for real is going to be interesting. Hats off to all those who can.

No flying tonight and I can see indoors with it would be like commiting suicide by transmitter!

if you hooked the LiPo charger to the car battery, that's actually quite conventional.
But I hope you didn't connect the LiPo itself to the car battery?

If in doubt, google for "LiPo fire"

In the mean time get back on the sim and practice practice practice.

hehe, yes I have the right bits but in the manual it says buy a proper charger or connect the balancing charger to car battery then plug the lipo in the charger. It seems fine in what I am asked to do but I wouldnt usually have a spare car battery laying around, that was the unconventional bit. Fire free here I hope

I have not made them yet, saturday I did feel comfortable just letting it idle up and then just feathering the throttle to give me the ability to kinda 360 on the spot (on purpose). That PS3 controller is actually pretty acurate from the sim in that bit, super fine throttle seemed fine.
I just was not prepared for the noise , nor the cats!

I had the Futaba attached to the sim as well tho with no ratchet thing inside for mode 2 so loose and needed me constant attention, this RTF kit Tx has notches on the left. Can I rebind this receiver to my Futaba T6EX?

As far as Im aware you can't bind a Futaba tx to a spectrum rx (Although I may be wrong on this)
Also for the moment the supplied HP6DSM tx will be set up with the appropriate pitch and throttle curves for your heli, so best not get too involved with swapping radios just yet
Personally I prefer a tx that has no ratchet on the throttle stick, but thats just my preference.

I'd say that was good advice , and your quite correct Tiddler it's not poss to use a spectrum Rx with a 2.4 Futaba Tx, the only way a Futaba Tx would work would be if it were a 35mhz with a 2.4 spectrum module.

Well you did the right thing by not flying, more sim time and then when you really feel ready give yourself a chance by doing little hovers then landing, no dumping the throttle down in a panic. Do everything smoothly.

Yay, It is saturday, just waiting to recharge the Blade and I will be trying to go forward with my homemade stabiliser.

Less wind so maybe I will hover I do hope so.
