  • Starter Heli

    Hi Guys,
Back on again, but this time a question for my Son, he has caught the bug & is looking to buy a RC Heli (and take after his dad), reading a few posts people have suggested a couple of options :

    Buy either :

    Trex 450 second hand
    or
    Blade 400

He will have roughly £300 to spend on getting up & running

Any pointers & input greatly received.

    Cheers

    Dan

Both the T Rex 450 and Blade 400 are good starters.

Their is another option you might take a look at though, and that's a s/h Thunder Tiger Innovator MD530
Their is a draw back with these helis in so far as you are pretty much locked into TT spares and batteries. BUT, it is probably the best first time 450 sized beginners heli out there. They are fabulously stable and beginner friendly

Me I would suggest the Blade 400 rtf package, not sure if he needs a tx but if he does the the Blade rtf comes with the DX6I, alll for around 300 notes and parts are cheap.

      Fast Lad Performance

Seems that the rtf version is out of stock at most shops

I would second the innovator. It's a really stable heli that will take you from cp novice to fast eights and high stall turns. It taught me a huge amount and took me a long way. I did not reply to sell a heli but I have no room for my innovator anymore and would let it go for a song if it helped someone else to go places. It's been around the block but still flies perfectly and would come with tx, box of spares, the software and cable and 4 batteries plus charger. £150 would do it. Not trying the hard sell pm me if you are interested otherwise ignore me

Thanks Guys, Have been hitting Phoenix most nights with my Son, I have also been setting up my Raptor (pitch, tracking etc) as well as learning the Aurora 9.

Now my youngest has caught the bug since we have both acquired our heli's and is looking at the belt CP v2 RTF or Twister CP Gold RTF, just weighing up which one.

                Cheers

Can't he just fly the Trex? He stands a much greater chance of success/ enjoyment with a high quality heli. Failing that, a second Trex S; at least you'll be able to use it for spares if/ when he quits.
