  • DX7 Receiver

Hi all. This is my first post after my intro a month or so ago. With this in mind. I apologise if this is in the wrong place. I have just bought a DX7 transmitter without reciever or the servo's. Which receivers would work with these transmitters? Am i restricted to buying the spektrum receiver to match? Or maybe there is a cheaper generic version that somebody knows of. Any help on this would be appreciated as I am having a little trouble understanding the technicalities of all this. If it hels with the advice. I am planning to fly a T-REX 450 SEv2 with it. Thanks, Phil.

With the DX7 you can use all of the "AR" rx's eg, AR7000, AR6250

Also there are new "Clones" of the spektrum rx's:
HobbyKing Online R/C Hobby Store : 2.4Ghz Spektrum

much cheaper, but no-body knows the Quality of them yet as they havnt been released yet
I left the hobby 3 years ago and discovered Women.

    I wish I never left.

Had a look at the link Danny. Cheers they are loads cheaper than the spektrum stuff. Not sure which one i would need though. The parkflyer or the OrangeRX one? Couple of reviews on the site now too. One buyer said they were solid cases but the wiring didnt seem as tidy as the spektrum, But for such a low price. They gotta be worth a try....

I'd strongly recommend that you stick to the genuine Spektrum receivers. It's not the place to take chances.

I've got AR6200s in my G5s. The AR6110 is cheaper, but doesn't have the remote receiver.
          Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

yeah, 6110 or 6100 is the rx of choice for 450 size heli. Take a look at BMFA classifieds if you need to keep costs down and are happy with second hand gear. If you want new then inwood models in huntingdon are probably the cheapest around and do mail order.

I totally agree with that. Sometimes it's just not worth the risk.

For a 450 you will need a 6 Channel rx or above I have this in a 450

How do you know that? No-body has tried them yet, they may even be the same Quality as the Spektrum ones, Whos knows!

Thanks. Thats a bit more like it on the price too. Not really looked at the 6ch RX. Just went straight into looking for 7ch and they are pricey. What do u reckon to those flymentor autopilot devices? A mate of mine has offered me one at a good price compared to what they going for on the net (50 quid) He never used it as he could fly his heli when he had it.

no need for 7ch on a electric heli, 6ch will do , Noooo thats cheating! if its flying the heli for you then your not going to learn

True. I was more interested it its recovery function as to its stabalization uses though. From what my mate told me. It has two modes. 1 is to hold the heli stable and level for you while you fly it round the park without any skill required (not what I am after). The other apparently will do all of the above. But only when you let go of the controlls on the tx. It will then (so I am told) level out to a steady hover. Ideal if you lose control of the heli. Gotta be honest. If it does what it says on the tin then I would certainly use the system with the 2nd mode a lot whilst learning to fly with 6ch. I still get to make my mistakes while flying but i wouldnt have to pay for them (literaly) on the repairs and lose flight time waiting on those repair parts to arrive.

If your up for a gamble try one of these, New SPEKTRUM 2.4GHz AR6100E 6-Channel Receiver AR6100 on eBay (end time 08-Jul-10 03:43:21 BST) They are soooo cheap it's worth a go, however i'd make a point of range checking it frequently to begin with just to be on the safe side.
As far as hover assistance is concerned, use that £50 to buy a secondhand copy of pheonix flight simulator. Its going to teach you to fly rather than mask the fact that you can't.

So I guess most are against hover assistance then? Got pheonix coming with my new heli. So I should just stick with what I got then?
