    Hi guys,

I'm hoping to learn a bit from this forum as I'm new to helis. The last RC stuff I've played with was Tamiya car kits back in the 90s. A few weeks ago I bought a toy Syma s107 coax 3ch from Selfridges because it looked fun. I quickly decided I wanted something more real, and ordered a Walkera 4#3b brushless from a chinese ebay seller. Looking back, this probably wasnt the best choice to learn on, but I have been making progress and the fact that I can fly over a soft bed and as often as I like has really helped. I think I've worn the motors out as they both need a little prod to start spinning and I barely have enough power to get off the ground. Anyway, I've ordered replacements, and I also ordered some bigger batteries to give me a little more time in the air. I was finding that by the time I'd finished messing around with the trim it was time to come down again. The batteries I bought are 1 cell lipo 20c 700mah. Looking at the charger I have, it's rated up to 500mah only so I guess I'll be needing a new one. There seem to be loads of different ones and I'm having trouble finding the right power and connectors. I do plan to move up to a bigger outdoor heli (when I've chosen a sim and got some time in!), could get something that will cover me for that as well if possible. Ideally I'd like to charge more than one battery at a time. Can anyone recommend a charger that will meet my needs?

Thanks for any help, I'm looking forward to getting a bit deeper into this...

Your choice of charger is mainly down to what you plan to fly and how far you think you will go. For example if you get a 450 size a Cellpro 4s is a good choice, it will charge safely, accurately and isn't horribly expensive (but it can only charge 1 pack at a time).

If you are planning bigger helis then Cellpro make a 10S charger (which I have) which is very good, it will charge up to 2 x 5s packs at the same time, as Hakiem says Hyperion also make a very nice range of chargers but I haven't used them, if you are in for the long haul, this looks like the mutts nuts - Fast Lad Performance

Regarding your existing charger the 500mAh rating is, I suspect, the maximum output current of the charger rather than the maximum capacity it can charge so if you have batteries larger than 500mAh it will charge them OK it will just take longer.

i was bored because i have been waiting for my parts for quite a long time (1 week plus !!), due to my own mistake, i accidentally paid using echeque. so i got frustrated and just don't have the mood to practice my sim or fly my helis. and that's when it hits me, why not reply some messages that no one have reply before. lolz. i just feel that it's time to get involved more in forums and slow down a bit with my helis.

          cheers
