i like the idea of a blade sr as a move up from my msr, does anyone know if it can be bought as a bnf as i can only find the rtf version on various web sites etc..

Think hard, join a club, talk to other flyers. There are better, and in the long term cheaper, outdoor helis than that. It is NOT just an upscaled version of the MSR.

When you can't fly, and flying an MSR doesn't really count, the Blade SR will demoralise you. Give serious consideration to a 450 and if cash is tight there are plenty of s/hand ones that come up on here or the BMFA site.

i agree dave, the SR isnt really a good model to learn on, you have to push the stick so far or it do anything that in the future if you change to a 600 or anything like this itll be major sensitive or you, buy a 450 if you can

        Heli choices, Blade SR

Like you I am a new flyer and purchased the Blade SR as a transitional heli from co axial (budget had an influence too). It is not sold other than in the RTF format.

Davew is right and speaks from experience, however the SR is not a bad heli (apart from the tail motor - plenty on the web about it's failings - and Horizon support is excellent).

The SR can also be flown indoors if you have access to suitable areas, and even as a beginner I was hovering in wind last night (bit hairy, but good practice).

At the end of the day an individual must make his or her own choice, having considered the voice of experience.

When i first started out I used an Esky Honey Bee (Fixed Pitch). Its cheap, pretty robust (my worst crash was £10) as its not a CP.

It is a difficult thing to fly due to its size and it doesn't have a Heading Hold gyro, but if you can fly this thing you can fly anything.

thanks for your comments dave, i understood that the sr was not a scaled up version of the msr but was a cp heli such as the t rex 500 which was another thought for purchase, budget is of course another consideration and while i enjoy flying i couldn't justify in my head the cost of the t rex when i take into acount the amount of spare time i have to commit to the hobby, this was the thought process that led me to the sr together with a discussion with the heli pilot at my local model shop

oh well thinking cap back on! thanks again for your input
