Twister CP

Hi all, Im new to this forum and heli's.
I've graduated from my medivac to the Twister cp and how different it is!
This little heli has given me headaches and difficult to hover as it's so
unstable, is this common?

As these are set up at the factory Id expect them to be virtually idiot proof, how wrong was I! lol

Crashed a few times now and decided to try and sort it out.

Levelled the swash plate and centralised all the servos, made the servo arms to push rods 90deg and tweeked the gain and prop on the 4in1 to stabilise the tail. Put on a ali swash plate too.

Almost hovering hands off but any further advice would be much appreciated.

Hiya, Still own the cp but have been out today and im now the proud owner of a TREX 450. The quality seems so much better. Just started building from scratch tonite!

I have a Twister cp and it has driven me mad I have to say. I think you have done really well to get it flying as well as you have.

I have bitten the bullet and am off to pick up my raptor 50 on tuesday....blimey i hope it was the twisters fault and not just me being completey useless at flying??

Mate don,t worry iv,e seen them twisters destroy lots of good flyers confidence, You have done the right thing (raptor 50) supurb.easy to set up easy to fly.If you don,t get a good deal mail me iv,e got a few for sale ,there,s bound to be one in your price range

Very nice, I did fancy the titan or the Raptor 30 but im still a beginner really. The Trex is nearly ready after 2 long days at the table! lol. Im hoping to join a club to do A&B and think the Trex will be much more suited. Im still awaiting 2 servos but all the other stuff is in there. Bought miss Davo a picco Z, loads more fun than the CP and a 10th of the price! lol

No RC heli is idiot proof. Not even a big expensive Raptor 90. The closest to idiot proof would be coaxial helis. No non-coaxial heli is going to hover hands off. If you've got your twister almost hovering hands off, then it sounds like you've got it pretty well tuned. Now it's just practice practice, and it'll start to seem easy to hover. See this link:

I had/have got a honey bee king. Which I have to say when its flying it flies really well. the main problem with it is things keep going wrong on it for absolutely no reason, electrically I mean.

at the moment the lipo for it has died and to be honest I dont fancy spending any more money on it so its sitting in its box where it will probably stay.

It's true that smaller helis are generally less stable than larger helis. However the original poster says his Twister CP almost hovers hands off, yet he still thinks there's a problem with its stability. This led me to be believe that he may have been under the mistaken impression that it should be able to hover hands-off like his medivac coaxial heli. My point is that no single main rotor heli is going to hover hands-off like a coaxial heli, big or small. A twister cp might hover for 2 seconds hands-off, and a Raptor 50 might hover for 4 seconds hands-off, that's the nature of them.

Hiya, I realise its no medivac but this thing is not only unstable, its unpredictable. I got the cp to hover nicely once or twice but feel im constantly fighting with it! eg sort of hovering on the lawn around 18" up and it lifted its nose and shot backward 10ft into the garage with no more input than was necessary to correct movement in the hover. I am a beginner but can fly around in reflex all day with helis and aircraft once the tx is set up. All 3D is usually accidently! lol
I'll just be glad to get the TRex up and running and if thats the same as the cp im gonna take up knitting or something! lol

If you get the TRex set up properly to suit your flying style and ability I'm 110% sure you will find it a totally different experience than the twister.

My cp V2 is back in its box and i guess thats where it will stay.

Hi, Well im built and set up ish. Had the TRex Hovering on the garden tonight. Still got to do some tweeking with the gyro due to a bit of tail wag etc but its fantastic.
Not twitchy at all, nice smooth controls and not over responsive, just what I wanted! I did have the under carrage on just to be safe till I got the feel of it! Lovely bit of kit!
