  • Problem with my Blade SR

Started a second practice session this evening, without warning the heli would rotate rapidly in a clockwise direction, no stick input had any effect.

Powered down and rearmed the heli, which has had no effect.
Looking for an explanation or is it a visit to the model shop tomorrow?

Any help appreciated (and it was going so well!)

Hi, Is the tail motor working if you hold the heli at arms length and apply throttle.
Please do this very carefully and only a small ammount of throttle will be needed.

Defiantly sounds like a problem with the tail rotor.

If your going to spool it up indoors, its a good idea to take the main blades off first.

I havn't spooled the heli up indoors, but did notice that the tail rotor was still functioning when I noticed the problem earlier this evening.

        Thanks

Try disconnecting the main motor, then holding the heli by the skids, throttle up until the tail rotor spins. Now twist the heli so the tail moves left and right. You should hear and feel the tail rotor speed up and slow down while doing this. This ensures the gyro is working correctly.
When you plug the lipo in be sure not to move the heli around until the gyro has initialised.
You could also try centring all trims and re binding the rx/tx

            Problem with my Blade SR

Have you checked the grub screw on the tail blade holder mount the one that screws to the shaft I bet it's come undone and any input made by the tail servo will be usless as it won't change the pitch on the tail blades

Might also be worth ensuring that the wires that power the motor are correctly connected. I had a similar problem with my little mSR. The tail rotor was spinning but, on pushing home the connector onto the 5-in-1 the pirouetting stopped.

Blade SR problems - follow up

Hi guys many thanks for all the useful advice. The problem turned out to be faulty tail motor (now deceased). My local hobby shop (model shop Leeds ( excellent service) and Horizon Hobby, and Fast Lad))are all out of stock.

I understand that these motors do have a problem. So it's back to the co-ax to keep the thumbs in form. Frustrating to have to wait, but at least I can still fly. And in this weather even outside.

Thanks once again to all those who replied, your help is much appreciated.

Glad you found the trouble. You getting a warranty replacement?

I bloody hope so, or there will be tantrums!!

No problem at Model Shop Leeds, in the past they have replaced f.o.c. When parts have failed on my co- ax. No experience of Horizon, emailed them today so waiting for the response. At the end of the day it's not megabucks, but the principle.
