  • Damn this windy weather what to do!

Getting so frustrated now with the weather.
It seems the first couple of days of the week are nice warm & sunny with very little wind, thats when I'm at work looking out the window at it.
Then the weekend comes & up goes the wind strength to 20 mph + keeping me in home on here looking out the window just wishing I was flying

I've had a 2hr lesson about 3 weeks aggo now & was hoping to get out & practice what I had been taught but I just haven't been able too.

You see there is a small problem with small Helis, they dont handle a blow & my Mini Titan just doesnt cut it in a wind, even in the hands of an expert.

I have realised I have got to get myself a real Heli at least a 50 size but I just dont have a clue what to buy.
I'm turning myself inside out looking through all the websites & all your comments on here trying to make sence of it all & I realy cant decide what to buy

    Know what you mean!

I took my heli out in the week for a dust off as it hadnt been flown for almost 5 - 6 months, and the wind was awfull (good in the fact that the wind stopped me throwing it about too much with been a BIT rusty lol!)

Am hoping its nice tomorrow but highly unlikely as im really itching to go flying again! (I NEED MY FIX AGAIN LOL!)

Managed to get all my flying done today by 1pm-wind got up to 15mph!!- both my T rex's (450SE -600CF) handled the gusts easily-had to increase the h/speed on the 450 though-once done,no probs -even managed basic 3d stuff as well- looking foward to tomorrow.....

the wind did take a sceadu 30 out today but too bad just got too far away and didnt seem to have the power to get it back but not too many broken bits,,
looking forward to some better weather soon as we all are....

              You need a Knight 3D

you don't need anything bigger than 50 ever. 90 flyers have small equipment and use heli to make up for it

I flew as well today in the wind - 50 and 30 size helis. No problem at all, and I flew my little 15 size plane as well.

I play pool in my local league, and once upon a time, many years ago, I used to get nervous playing in matches against good players, until someone said to me, "just play the balls, not your opponent".

Same with playing golf and water hazards - if there's a lake near by, how many people hit the ball straight into it, but if it wasn't there, they'd go straight over it with no problem.

It all comes down to a peace of mind in my opinion. Just go fly the heli, the wind doesn't matter. Just fly the machine through the wind and compenstae accordingly.

On the whole, it's only the rain that grounds my flying, or my wife!!!!

Must admit i agree with the manager we have people at our club who can,t fly, won,t fly, in the wind .You have three choices, fly through ,take a day of mid week or keep making excusesany 50 will fly in 20mph winds. get a BACKBONE

Im still getting used to the wind I dont mind the going down its the going up that worries me. Mines a floaty heli anyway it just picks up the wind and off it goes. So I know how you feel, however if you dont fly in the wind when learning you might find you never will.

Strange, its so much easier on the sim.

You owland southerners don't know what wind is. It was blowing 30-55mph here this afternoon.
Damned wind only goes up to 22mph on Phoenix, so I can't even practise realistically before I go out!
