  • First Flight tomorrow (Sat 17th)

i'm gonna go for my first flight tomorrow guys!
my plan was to spend a few weeks on the sim getting a feel for things but my useles computer couldn't cope with anything more than email & forums & wouldn't run the sim so i only have limited experience (for want of a more specific word)

i'm gonna pick up some spazzy undercarriage before i go & i have somebody with me who says he'll buddy up (i think he just fancies me )

any last minute pearls of wisdom to offer?

apart from don't forget your broom

            Go for it.

Training carraige - bollox IMHO. They don't make you REALLY concentrate! Get her off the ground to 3-5 feet. If your buddy can give you ailerons, then elevator then rudder and pitch in that order that would be cool. That's how Ade gets people started down here and it's a nice way of doing things.

Keep your flights short initially as concentration goes fairly quickly when you start. When I'm working on a new manouvre I often stop just to rest for a a few seconds it just helps regain your composure and reduces your chances of crashing I think.

Have a nice day and enjoy it.

well tbh i'm glad i had the training gear on there as i went it alone first time out
the heli had about 9 degrees negative & i was bashing it down pretty hard the first few times! we adjusted everything up & it made it a whole lot more controllable, i'm gonna put some black paddles on too as it seems a bit lairy with the lightweight green ones (although i do like the green colour )
Dave who is helping me said he'd buddy up once i wanted to start flying around but for now i just got to get it hovering & moving about a bit

i had some good spells & a few mildly scary incidents LOL
i had the hump at first as it was way harder than i thought it would be but once i realised you can't just pick up a tranny & be good i settled into just practising & got slowly better!
main thing is i did about half a gallon & it came home in 1 piece

oh i learned something else too, don't put your hand in the tailblades!
just because you can't see them doesn't mean they're not there

flying helis is harder than i thought but i reckon you'd get a good feeling everytime you master something

i'll just stick to my bouncing on my spazzy undercarriage for now

I still get the jitters and a great buzz every time I fly mine, I have been flying just under a year with nitros and around 18 months with 450’s and I now entering mild 3D moves. Glad you got it home in one piece, and most of all you had a good time.
