Ive had no problems with the tail drive at all and the bearing upgrade was fitted
I see no mechanical interaction at all altho i dont have that much experiance with helicopters all i can say is my hawk hovers and flys fine,
As for the starter system on the hawk we have also had this discusion before with several hawk owners saying they have no problems with it,
Maybe its not the best design but it does work and doesnt have to rely on a 1 way bearing to keep working,
Every time the hawk is mentioned on this forum it gets a right slating that in my opion is undeserved,

I have to agree the futaba gy401/s9254 gyro/servo are the best for this model ive got the same fitted to mine and it made flying it much smoother and gave me much more confidense

Gaza, i have had 2 tail drives fail on me. both of them the wire started slipping in the front gear. Its a very rubbish design. The wire has a flat on in and the gear has a tube out the back. it looks like they have deformed the tube with mole grips to get it to grip... and yes that is how it comes from the factory.

hence my warning to replace it with the Pro's tube.

Trouble with interactions is that to start with you learn to compesate for them the main thing you will see is an elevator trim change when move the collective up then down. And when you start flying inverted the elevator trim inverted will be very different to the right way up.

and thats assuming your using 3152 or better. if your using 3001 or similar it will be worse.

the hawk pro is "fine" it works but its not what i would call a nice helicopter and is it really enough cheaper than a raptor 30 to be worth the lack of an upgrade route to a 50. Add the Knight sport to the equation and justifying a hawk pro becomes very difficult.

Crickey im not hovering upside down yet im still learning as i said earlier im about ready to do my A,
Maybe after ive flown heli`s for a while ill look back at the hawk and think hmmm ade from the forum was right it was crap, But at the moment it does more than i need it to and im more than happy with it,
Ive seen the part you mean and the tube has been squashed so the flat wire rod drives from it not the best design and i will keep a eye onit

the inverted thing is an extreme case it will also show during climbouts vs hovering.

thing is, at the moment its there but your compensating for it. which uses "processor" time. This time is much better spent flying rather than compensating.

keeping an eye on the tail wont help... first thing you know about it you have a tail rotor thats not spinning and a heli that is spinning :-(

if your very lucky it will kick a couple of times if it slips then grabs which will give you time to hit the hold and auto but its a big if.

Thomas, Where about is this club?

Ade, I think that a .50 size is a little out of my budget so I think it will be a raptor .30.

Now I have futaba radio gear 6EX tx and love it and I was going to get a 6EXH with a PCM RX any issues?

Digital trims on helis a great thing or annoying if you need to trim in a hurry?

No issues with PCM on the 6EXH.

You shouldn't need to apply excessive trim in a hurry
Thats what the sticks are for - until it's trimmed properly

I find digital trims much more preferable to manual trims.
                  Cheers,
