hi all are the futaba 401 gyro's as good as i am led to believe or are there better gyro's for the trex size heli

I would agree. You'll struggle to beat it for this model, BUT it can only work as well as it does due to the servo and to the setup of the tail control.

They are brilliant on the 450 with the 9650

yup wikid little heli. I want something a bit bigger really. Its still very much a micro and does supprise you occasionally. best micro i have flown tho.

what size is the 450 size?

is it a bit bigger than a zoom 400 say?
