First ever flight.....

Hi everyone...,

I just wanted to share my first experience of CP helis and my first ever flight..( well first 2 actually )

I have just purchased my Blade 400, and its had its first outing this afternoon... Now you have got to bear in mind i have never flown a CP heli before ( only a 3 channel indoor heli ) and ive had about 2 hours practice on Phoenix ( thanks to Callum ) so it would be safe to say my ar*se was twiching more than the servos when i spooled her up for the first time today.

Well i now have have 2 lipos under my belt and a heli in one piece still... It has to be said i was being very careful and there was more hopping than a junior school sack race going on but hey ho, a good time was had and no one got hurt and no crashes ( yet..? )

I have been a member here since i started to look into geting a proper heli and i now know why everyone says its such an addictive hobby... WOW this really is fun...!!

Consider me "hooked"

Hi Helipilot, I had my first hop today as well on the Blade 400 after a few hours on phoenix. My longest flight was about 2 seconds however I did have a blade strike and that was with training gear. I don't think I damaged anything as the wooden blades weren't damaged, just a bit of green on the tips from the grass and a few dead flys. I think I'll go back to phoenix for a few more hours. Just before lift off, does your 400 start to spin and then settle once airborn?

Well done, I am not long started as well. The first 6 or 7 flights with my blade 400 all resulted in crashes, so you really are doing well in comparison.

Even so, you should get a simulator if you haven't already, even though they are not 100% life-like, the reactions they train are, and will save a lot of crashes in the future.

Also, the great news is if you can fly the b400, you can fly anything! I got a T600 nitro very shortly after the b400 and it is a LOT easier to fly, especially in wind.

Hello Terry.., In answe to your question.. I dont think so..i was only airbourne for about 2 secs at a time but no it didnt spin..? it was turning slightly but i altered the trim and it settled down. Im by know means an expert but could it be a gyro issue..?

I certainly remember the first time I spooled up, I don't think I'll ever forget it.

This hobby has many such memorable moments and some will scare you more than others, but they will always stay with you!

I think that is why you will always get a response evey time you reach a new milestone because we all know how difficult it is get there or we aspire to achieve it ourselves.

Yes... i can well believe that... last weekend and 2 more lipos on and no damage to my heli..... well not exactly to the heli put it that way.... lets just say i had to purchase a new set of trainer gear this week... In an effort to save my heli from disappearing backwards over next doors fence i may have given it just a tad too much right stick (forward ) which resulted in the rotorblades making contact with the training gear.. the result being lots of bits of plastic dispenced over quite a impressive area..... i managed to land her safely before rolling about laughing...!I would like to confirm that no helicopters where injured during this incident.... Good times....!!
