  • Yet More ??

    Hi all

An ic. Heli. question. Of choice, any suggestions for or against as a beginers stable ic heli.

    1) Shuttle 30 +2

    2) Sceadu 30 Evo

    3) Raptor 30 V2

At last found a local club and after lots of tweaking the dreaded CP2 got off the deck(not by me I had to go eat my Hat) but is found to be very very twitchy.

Thus the advice of "get something simple and heavier" and the above names were suggested.

All suggestions greatfully received(even if "s*d off and join another forum")

    Cheers

    Peter

raptorv2 all the way maybe go for a 50 though not alot in it in cost and its more stable and saves money as there's no need to go up the upgrade path for a long time, they fly well spares are relatively cheap and easy to source and, and straight foward to work on

      Hi

I fly a Shuttle and its great although old now. Good for scale mechanics.

I'd go for the EVO 30 or if you can stretch to it an EVO 50.

The raptor could be good but I've never flown one.

      Cheers

As far as flight characteristics go, I prefer the Evo 50 over the Raptor.
The damn thing explodes if you hit the floor though, which is where the Raptor beats it hands down. Raptors are amazingly strong.

I swapped my Raptor 50 for my current Evo 50 though... and I don't regret that decision

if you can stretch to a 50 you will never grown out of it like you will a 30. so will be cheaper in the long run.

they fly nicer too being a little bigger.

my fav is the knight sport. its only 190ukp for the airframe which isnt much more than a raptor 30, engine will cost you more tho.

i wish i had started with a 50 size, but convinced myself that i wont need to upgrade for years, and that the difference wouldnt be that great. guess what, within 4 months i needed a 50 size, and the difference (mainly in power, but also stability) is huge! As has been said, go for 50 size.

my only issue with owning a knight at present is that spares arent easily available from my local places, and to me this makes a big difference. if i stack it on a saturday, i want to be able to fix and fly sunday, and at the mo, this isnt possible for me. i will own one this year though

                  jamie,

its a bit of a chicken and egg situation. you guys wont buy them because the shop doesnt stock the bits because there is no call for them because nobody flies them!

what happened down here is a few people got them from skyline. then the shop started stocking the bits and the kits when he realised there was a real call for it.

i totally agree ade, and even tried convincing my local place to stock them, to which he answered "i got a few of them in, and they were totally plain white boxes. it makes little sense to keep a white plain box on the shelf of an already crowded small shop". this makes total sense. who's going to ask to look at a white plain box, when there are 5 or 6 different boxes next to it, all with info and pictures on. all it would take is for compass or climb out to produce one big sticker to go across the front of the box, and suddenly it looks a lot more attractive to keep on the shelf. He sent all of them back

                      Sceadu 30, without a doubt.

It's just the best 'out-of-the-box' heli that you can get in this league.

looked after an evo 50 for a club member it was poo it just cant take the abuse of club flyers, raptor wins hands down for ease of repair
                        availability of parts
it can do anything most club level pilots are capable of and more,
will take abuse and lack of maintenance and still fly well.

i know there are better machines out there but to learn with and progress
R50 all the way imho. (prepare for assault)

I don't know about that one, but mine and my mates Evo 50's take a thrashing on a regular basis

sceadus are good. but suffer from weak frames, weak tail blade and a few other bits and bobs like gears that wear quickly.

                            flies really nicely tho.

you can get sceadu performance with raptor durability in a knight sport tho....

                              An Omen

Thanks for all the replies what worries me is when "made2fade" calls out "Ade" "this lad needs a Knight"

My very first subscription for Rotor World lands on the mat,and the main review is of the Knight 50 Sports.
Is this a real Rotor World copy or a Flyer from Adelaw??
Whilst on this review they have tried to put a budget package together and have used an AS40 ic. instead of a 50.
The reviewer seems to think that it has worked out OK so what do the PANEL think.?

                              Cheers
