  • Want something better

My little copter is now almost smashed to bits but I did learn to hover it. It still flies but very wobbly and instead of fixing it I want to get something better. What does everyone think I should get. Nothing too expensive. I want to stick with electric too.

              Twister Bell 47.

I use one as its cheaper than me upgrading my PC and adding a simulator.

Also it means I can fly every day whilst the weather is naff!!

              Cheers

you've got two choices buy another £100-150 piece of poop, or i'm afraid your look at least £500 for a new 450 size
                cheers Lee

If it ain't broke fix it until it is

Thats what ive learned from the boards so far aswell. I got myself a Twister Bell 47 for £120 quid and bought a spare battery etc aswell. Can easily fly in teh house and im not bothered about wrecking it (other than the fact that when its wrecked I cant fly it for a bit ).

Get one of these although they look crap they are excellent to learn with.

Im at present doing "post hover manuvers(sp:S)" after only 4 batteries worth of flight (from never having flown a heli before). I do have pretty good hand to eye coordination though from a lifetime of gaming, my brother and dad who have flown it for about half the time I haev are not even close to a hover though.

Waffle over, get a Bell 47 and save for a £600 decent heli. If you learn witha decent heli im pretty sure you will be repairing it constantly which will be closely and you will lack the flytime to learn properly.

not to crap in the apple cart but these twisters and medivac's and the like are so easy to fly they imo don't prepare you for a proper heli... you'll need even better coodination and faster reactions for a machine with a proper tail and cyclic and collective controls.. also you'll have to learn setup
                    cheers Lee

I agree to a point, but I have one as it helps me keep my hand in.

I think they are great, but then I have learned to set up Heli's before.

                      Cheers

PS. I don't think the Twister is a pile of poop, I think its a very tough, well designed machine!!

I know its not as technical as a normal heli but they at least build the subconcious reactions and abilities into your head before you learn extra controls etc. Just getting your head around the use of the sticks takes some time so its best to learn on a simple heli imo.

I know id spend much less time in the air and much more cash/frustration if I started using a £600-700 setup first.

Biggest problem with the contras is the fact that they are too stable. they do give you an idea and a simple grounding but they still don't fully prep you for balancing a marble on an upturned pyrex dish

Pretty accurate description of heli flying there phil

I was always told it was like balancing a hard boiled egg on an upturned drawing pin
